I want to hear yall's opinion on that.

Honestly, My life has only 3 reasons to keep me alive: School, My family and Sentinel Craft. All my friends are either in my school or my complex and not to mention Sentinel Craft. I would never like my school to end :D

I am working on getting back into school lol! I finished high school with a 3.8 gpa but never went to college.... trying to go back and do that now

Are you kidding me? You never want your school to end? For me at least, I get endless homework that keeps me up to 12:30 AM each day, not to mention difficult tests and projects. So I want it to end as soon as possible, which is May 28th for me.
-
I get a lot of home work but I do it in the periods before the teacher arrives. Tests are not so hard if you know your subject. Maths, science, English and French is a breeze for me but I get stressed with SST (his, geo, poli.) And Hindi (2nd land)
-
I just flat out do not like school. I have my reasons for that but I don't like it. I'm glad I end May 23rd.
-
School is just a preparation for real-life education =) so schooling never ends xD
-
shes right, like they say "you learn something new everyday" if you dont want school to end keep on living, if you want it to end then die because life is a school and you will be learning everyday of your life.

Yeah I guess for you its easy, but you have NO idea how difficult my tests are. AP Classes in the US are no joke, especially if you have a teacher that believes in "proper teaching methods" (and by that I mean like 5 hours of hw a day).
-
trust me man I believed that your studies are easy. change schools if ur not comfortable with that teacher of yours.

Lol Debu, you have no idea. I'm not sitting up till 12:30 every night for no reason, it is genuinely difficult and time consuming. And the reason why it is so, is because I attend the best school in my state :D. The way it works is that they cram the 4 years of typical high school into 2 years, and the other two years you take classes at a college from where you can receive lots of college credit. The only hard part is the beginning two years, which I am in, but after that, it is supposed to be a walk in the park because you are so prepared. I worked really hard to get in and to stay in, so I'm not leaving anytime soon. And about the teacher thing, I get hw from ALL subjects not just that one teacher, and lots of it, so not really a teacher problem.
-
If you know your subject and understand well, all this homework will prove useless. You cant memorize everything. Whatever I write in my exam or in my work is on the spot. I don't recall the past. If I know how it works/ happens, I can put it down on paper.
-
So I'm not alone!

Please tell me how you can answer history questions on the spot, because history cannot be made on the spot like for example math, although memorizing many formulas are required. Math I'm good at, but World History is the killer.
-
Read history as if it were a story. I always remember that way.
-
"... and then prince Hitler decided to kill Mr. Stalin and get his princess ..."

I think that you are being waaaay to simplistic about it. Explain how to read a 900 page textbook that has microscopic writing like a story? History is extremely complex, and sometimes the "plot" doesn't fit together as easy as you think it does. I have no idea how you can remember WWII in the form of a story when there are so many different things going on.
-
nope its not complicated at all if you don't get it then go and make a flow chart and write the story on ur own
-
Alright I'm not going to argue anymore, because I don't think you understand what's going on, but thats ok I don't blame you. I don't know how the history classes work in India, but I can promise you when you become a little older and get into higher standards, and you will see what I mean ;)

Right now I'm in my 12th year, I'm coming back to high school for another semester next year then I'm going to university for humanities, specialization in criminology and law. After I've done my 5 years at university I hope to make it into the CFL but if not I'm back at collage for another 2 years for police foundations. so I'll be in school for the next few years haha.

Homework isn't just about Remembering the answers... In math you have to Understand formulas, HW is Testing your Comprehension of those formulas so that You Don't Screw up the Methods used in a future test or w/e... Even History you can't Just Read it Remember the Words, You have to Understand the Words... Some Things need Interpretation in life, and they aren't Straight Forward, You have to Understand Historical People to Understand the Things they did, good or bad..
But one thing I will Say is... Homework Is a Way Teachers get out of Doing their Job... If Each Class in Highschool is about 1.25-1.5 hrs and Each of those Classes give you 1.5 hrs of HW.. (Which I'm Being Lenient) Makes it like 10-12hrs of School a day which is 50-60hrs a Week... Your Pretty much and Overworked Intern that doesn't get promoted for 12 years.. and the Teachers are the Ones that go on strikes lol
-
Well, seeing as my job revolves around teaching, I don't want anyone to leave!
Plus, I must constantly self reflect on my practice to improve children's learning outcomes. So I -have- to stay in some form of education to keep up to date with relevant practices and theories.

Well said Mac, I have about 4 -5 hrs of hw a day now, so you got it spot on. Sometimes there is never an easy and straight forward view to things, especially school.

I have to disagree. Homework is not a way that "teachers get out of doing their jobs" obviously since we are generalizing there are exceptions. But homework is a tool teacher use to reinforce your learning.
Some people understand things instantly, and then do not need to do homework. But many others need the repetition to learn. Each person is different, but a school environment does not have the luxury of treating every child like a special little flower. They have to teach 30 kids and try to get them all to the same level.
The comment about being overworked is laughable. This is the easiest your life is going to be unless you marry rich or win the lottery. Life is like this, you will never not feel like you are overworked/underpaid/ect. And it only gets more intense. Relationships, Friendships, Jobs, Kids, All these new layers are going to be piled on in the coming future.
-
I'm getting scared D:
-
I rarely have to bring home homework (excluding studying for tests). Most of the students in my school that complain about homework are the ones that socialize in class instead of using the free time to finish stuff. If you feel overworked, then take another study hall.

Yeah I see your point about the homework, but I do think that there is a limit to the amount of it at which you can receive during the 9th grade. Although I do have to say that I have seen better days than the ones I am having currently (5-6 hours of sleep a night).
-
Last night I finished 3 different assignments then went to play mc until 4:00 am and got 3 hours of sleep, Here at school got handed 2 more assignments so no sleep for me again xD
