Okay, so this will probably get lost, but I want to start Project Highway.
Basically we connect the major towns using 2 major highways (X highway and Z highway) and then once you reach the correct X or Z, there will be a smaller road going off towards the town. But, we need a starting point. For this I was thinking the largest town on the server, going off towards the other towns. We also need a TON of materials. I think it could be made in the nether to make the distance less.
I will be setting up a donation chest for the project in my plot in Shadowmist.
REASON: This will make traveling to other towns and areas easier, and if we get a railroad, we could even use it to transport large amounts of supplies.
-
./t spawn <town name> helps for that.
-
I am always up to help, I will donate what I can.
-
I'd be more than glad to help with the design and resources!
-
I'd love to help with building the design, and I also think it would be a terrific idea since the command aurum mentioned does take money (although it is a small amount). ;D
-
Psst *cheap ores at zydonia * Ill donate some materials :)
-
I'd support this project and will gladly help in building and collecting resources. But imho, we must not build much roads and take up a great part of wilderness to give way for new towns to flourish in the server.

But is that really the fun way to do it?
Anyway, I'll talk to you in game next time a see you

oh don't worry about that, I know large pieces of land they can use, and we could always make underground cities, fill it with dirt and boom a city. Trees and junk will make up for it

How would transporting things work if chunks need to be loaded for minecart chests to travel?
Just sayin'

yeah so like halfway there it disappears. wouldnt that mean ppl would be standing to make sure it gets to where its going

How about the fact you'll run into people's houses on the way? I assume you're using a straight highway.
-
That is something that needs to be taken into consideration, rather than making it straight it can go in different directions?
Just a suggestion :D

well I was thinking instead of one major highway, it would connect major towns, and eventually connect most towns.

we can make tunnels lel
-
we can make tunnels lel
through the houses? XD
-
Also, outside Ducktopia, I found an old road, we could possibly use it. Possibly.
-
I can help with this project.
But first let me know where the highway will go through

Through the houses lmfao
-
Nether. Just make a nether highway.
-
Personally I don't see the use in a highway when you can just do /t spawn (which costs only $5-20..) and teleports you within 3 seconds.
That being said, if you guys want to make a highway go ahead. I just don't want to see anything of it close to my town since I like the scenery.. >__>.

Same issue Fjer. But they seem set on it, so I suggest them to use the nether for it.
-
I am more interested in the enterprise itself rather than the utility that a simple road would be. I have been prototyping a lot and I think that we could incorporate slime block transportation vehicles and several other high-tech ideas which would make the highway more of a landmark than a triviality.
-
Idk if this will ever come past my base but i'd like it if it didn't, just putting that out there. I also have several tunnels under it so attempts at digging under it would most likely collide.

Yea there would need to be people there to load the chunks so i think it wouldnt work for transporting things imo and it would take really long, people wound rather teleport there.

First of all, that road isn't mine it's some other town's. And second of all: I hate it being there not only just any idiot griefs it, it makes it easier for them to get access to outside my town and build things next to it.
So if you plan on connecting towns, count mine out.
-
Okay, so the road isn't extremely practical, except for mob transportation, but I think it would just be a nice thing to have. We need town owners to agree though.

Although the road might be cool I don't see it being very great with town spawn commands. If you could work something out through the nether that'd be cool but you can count Zydonia out.

^
-
And Luna City out as well.
-
Unless we say otherwise (we havent discussed it yet) count Lionmart out.
-
I second that (I know there is a road to market 2.0 and we barely use it and like pauizz said it gives people the oppertunity to build next to your town
-
You should build it in the nether, I planned to make one from my town (the west edge) to the centrum (spawn). Its smaller and I think easier.
