The first time I joined SB I saw that I got a free 5700$ and since I said it immideatly I didn't know it was really a glitch, but seeing as hirokashii got banned for using that money I would like to report it the official way, I was not aware that this was a bug.

I got some 8k smt too when I first joined skyblock, stored that + money earned in sign.
It seems that the money is proportional to the money we have in horizon.
Eg. Hiro's richer in horizon, the money he got when 1st joined skyblock is more
I'm poorer in horizon, the money I got is lesser

Checked SB money, stored $4130.38 extra that I got in the sign.
Also, is it normal to get money from voting in SB if you are in SB when it gets added to the balance? It just happened to me.

my balance was 0 when i first joined, then i got 400 from voting(yes it's normal if you are standing in sb when voting) and 3.5k+ from challenges, after few expenses(i died a lot) i have 2.7k in a sign, no suspicious money so far

i dont remember if i had some money
i know i fell like 5times with inventory intact
after next one (6th) i lost all my stuff
i did not knew /bal when those deaths happened
i still do not know how much money costs 1 death and the extras after the first
i know i completed some challenges but with my /is restart /is confirm
i see i have all challenges same progress it does not re-starts again as /is

Also, is it normal to get money from voting in SB if you are in SB when it gets added to the balance? It just happened to me.
We want to reward people on Skyblock for voting, if they're active on it.

I received, $4160.70 extra on Skyblock. I've placed it on a sign.

how do I know if I got extra money?

Check /c and if the sum of your rewards is lowr than /bal you probably did get extra money
