Title: Server Render Distance Increase
Post by: Absolarix on September 30, 2019, 12:44:57 AM
Is there any chance the chunk render distance on the server could be increased from 10 (which is default for dedicated servers) to 16, if the server can handle the extra load?

The server is a tad bit unstable lag wise for various of reasons (loading in chunks, mob farms, etc). In my opinion, increasing the render distance from 10 to 16 could possibly cause the server to lag out even more. If the server is lagging , an influx of people would start complaining about the lag. We have enough of those people already with the render distance being 10

No. Also the render distance is lower than 10 on Sentinel

Sentinel render distance is around 4. lol. You thinking it's 10 when it was actually 4 is in itself reason that it is enough. Server is unstable and we've been working with this chunk distance for long enough now.

seeing how 1.15 and further updates that Mojang are working on should help the rendering of chunks be less taxing/fast loading, could we possibly see an increase in the distance whenever we eventually update to 1.15 or later versions?

We are still on 1.14.4 so any 1.15 suggestions won't be considered at this point.
