Icing on the Cake - Boatrace!
Track created by Bread and I as a collaboration between our towns (Oblivion and Lindon)

Welcome to Icing on the Cake (IOTC), a frosty track designed and built for everyone's favourite activity... boatraces! Hop in a boat and speed to the finish line, all while staying on course and racing against time.

Mode:
Single-player Time Trial
Any SM+ are eligible for this race, hosted in /flat. You have a total of 3 officially timed trials that you are allowed to play. Your times will be kept in a list on this post, with only the best time noted at the end of the event. The player with the shortest time at that point will be crowned Time Trial Champion of the IOTC track!
A few additional notes and rules:

  • No unfair advantages. Speed buffs, flying ahead, and illegal shortcuts will warrant a disqualification.
  • There are some coloured signs on the track to guide new racers with different speeds.
  • If you fall out of the boat, replace it in the nearest possible spot and continue.
  • It is unlikely you will fall out of bounds or land in a wrong location. However, if you do, the supervising Timekeeper will place you on the right track. Practise beforehand to avoid unwanted accidents and time increases!

Location:
After arriving in /flat, walk ahead and look upwards to the right. A giant blue velvet cake harbours a warp sign to the beginning of the racetrack (If you need a reference point, it's close to the guardian farm warp).

Thicc cake boi

Date:
We understand that participants are from a wide range of timezones. Not to worry! For this event, you can complete your time trials at any time before Saturday, July 4th, 10 pm GMT. Simply grab one of our official Timekeepers (see below) when you're ready to go, or schedule a meet with them in-game over Discord.

Perks of competing:
  • Right to brag as the top-notch boatracer on the server!
  • Privilege to make a smug -w- face at Artinity (Gossip time: Can Artful defend his rank of reigning boatrace champion?)
  • And prizes for the top three racers!

Sign-ups:
Want to compete? Sign up by replying below with your in-game name, the timeframe that you can typically expect to be online, and type of boat you will be using!

Some of our early testers enjoying the track. Big thanks to all of you!
"1000% worth the wait, 15/10" - Gad
"Really well done" - Art
"U actually did it :/ [you got the] bee overall (sic)" - Bread

Timekeepers:

Timekeepers do countdowns and help you in keeping track of your time, as well as seeing that all racers are following the rules. Below is a list of our approved Timekeepers you can reach out to:

  • Bread boi (Spectr3, Jaeger#5368),
  • Sans (General_Sand, Gen.Sandstorm#4140),
  • or I (banacat, Kaitlyn#3889)

(Pssst, we're always looking for new helpers! If you are online often and would like to be a Timekeeper, message me or Breadmold)

Other usages of IOTC:

You are welcome to use the track freely, as long as nobody else is performing their timed trial! In fact, we encourage each participant to do a few test runs before their real time trial. If you wish to spectate, please do so in a manner that is non-disruptive to the racer. This means no fireworks, flying in front of racers, egging others, etc.

We hope to see you soon in the water!
