Everything Else / New format for a football/soccer event in-game?
« on: July 16, 2018, 10:24:22 AM »
Hello guys,

So the World Cup is over. This means I am busy thinking what kind of events I could host next to have fun. Some of you might remember this event: http://sentinelcraft.net/forum/index.php?topic=4053.30, but some of you don't. If you don't please take a look :) People who want to find out what this game is, please message me in game.

My idea is to revive the football game on survival/flat. But there was a small problem in the other events, and that was the difference in timezones between people.. Tournaments couldn't be finished because people had to play each other, but they were never online at the same time. So the new idea is this:

The games will still be 1 vs 1. But instead of playing as 'yourself', you can now participate as a team.  This means you can rotate of which member of your team will play the scheduled match. By having several players available, I think the chance of games that will be finished will increase. If you?re not there, then one of your teammates can play the match. Every team can have 1-3 members.

Note: This is still an idea, and I won't host it until 1.13 will be released. Please leave questions, tips and tops in the comments :)

Non-Minecraft Topics / World Cup Event: Weekly Prediction
« on: May 30, 2018, 03:50:04 PM »

Copy the empty match schedule I will place in this post at the start of every week and fill in what you think what the results and scores of that week will be.
For every correct result, you'll get 5 points. If you also guess the correct score, you'll get another 10 points.

For example:
Prediction: Russia 3-1 Saudi-Arabia
Outcome:   Russia 2-0 Saudi-Arabia

In this example, you'll get only 5 points for guessing the correct result, because you didn't guess the correct score.

You can predict your games before the first game of that week starts.

Some of us get inactive, some us come back and from some of us you''ll never hear a thing again. But there's one thing in common: All of us love(d) the server and it's community very much. We made friends from all over the world and made a lot of memories with them. One of the subjects on the server people talk about is meeting up each other in real life. But money and distance and time are a huge problem. But I will be forever thankful for this last week I had.

In case you missed it: Migas visited the Netherlands, which he announced on the forum. But not without reason. I mean, you could visit any country in the whole world, but he chose for The Netherlands to meet me and Fjerreiro in real life. We were looking forward to it for a while and then the week finally came. We were going to meet a person in real life from Sentinelcraft for the second time, after Fedgar's visit last year.

Migas' arrival was a reason for me and Fjerreiro to actually visit things in our country we never went to, even in our own city Rotterdam. At the first day on a thursday, Fjerreiro met up at the airport of Schiphol (Amsterdam) and I met them in the Blaak train station in Rotterdam to bring Migas' stuff to the hostel.

On the friday we made a tour through Rotterdam with me and Fjerreiro as guides. Migas finally saw why Rotterdam was so modern compared to other cities in the country. ''I didn't know the World War II bombings affected this city so much'', he said. In between these awful history, there also was some brightness. Literally. The weather in the Netherlands had been crap with grey skies for three months in a row. It was like Migas just ordered some sun on his week here.

During the third day, we went for a tour in our home town: Barendrecht. We showed our houses and our old highschool. Then we went to see the famous windmills in Kinderdijk. These typical Dutch landscapes were such a difference for us, after visiting a big city. We even made this Portuguese guy wear clogs. Imagine it with your own fantasy, it must be a good picture.

Then it was time to visit Amsterdam. The image of the city being a weed city was confirmed: it was the first thing we smelled when arriving at the station there. Good entrance. Very crowded compared to all the other places we went, but we visited on Sunday. Luckily, it didn't take long for him to see Amsterdam is a nice city known for other things as well. And again, there was a reason for me and Fjerreiro to visit stuff we never went to. The Rijksmuseum known for the paintings of Rembrandt van Rijn and we actually went on a boat trip  through the canals in Amsterdam to watch the city from another perspective.

On this monday morning Fjerreiro and me were both busy so Migas decided to visit Delft. For those who don't know: Brenda lives near Delft. And yes, they both met up as well. According to Migas: ''Brenda is actually exactly the same in person as online''. When asking Brenda about the meeting she says: ''My meeting with Migas was actually pretty spontaneous, he'd mentioned that he was visiting Delft on Monday but I didn't think I'd have the guts to go and say hello! I realised that this was an once in a lifetime opportunity and I just went, no regrets at all! We had a nice chat about the things he'd done in the Netherlands so far & Migas showed me pictures of his trip! We then had some small gossip and of course took a picture''.

In the afternoon we went to the beach of Scheveningen. If you're not Dutch or able to speak Dutch, try to pronounce that name of the beach. I also recommend some honey for your throat. Migas also made a joke saying he would build a replica of the famous Kurhaus hotel for Fjerreiro's birthday.

That same day in the evening we went to a Malaysian restaurant next to the football stadium, Fjerreiro and me did a challenge to eat as much dishes as we could, since it was 'all you can eat', while Migas just went for a dish from the card. The idea to go bowling after the eating was a bad idea, since Fjerreiro's and my belly were like a bowlingball as well. And so Migas won two out of three games, while Fjerreiro won one. I was second all the time.

Then the last day already began. We planned to visit the cheese museum in the famous cheese city of Gouda. Unfortunately the museum was closed, so we visited the biggest church I ever saw in a small city like Gouda, the Sint-Jan.

After that, Migas' dream finally came true as he was invited to go skiing with Fjerreiro. It was a perfect end of activities on this amazing week.

Since Fjerreiro needed to go to work, Migas and I spent our last night by dining and drinking beer together.

I had to work at wednesday morning and Fjerreiro went to Schiphol again to bring Migas to the airport. After about 9 hours of traveling, Migas arrived at his home town and the week officially ended.

This week with Migas made me realise how beautiful this server is. Without the community I would never be able to meet this amazing guy. And same for Fedgar last year. It also made me decide to make a serious comeback to Sentinelcraft again. Because friendships and beautiful stories are being made there. I hope to see all of you reading this online again soon to make the server great again as it was to maybe make similar stories as we did!

Everything Else / Villager Football will be back!
« on: April 25, 2017, 02:07:14 PM »
Hey everyone :)

As a few of you maybe already noticed, I am coming back to the server trying to be more active. This also means that I will try to host the sport games I hosted in the past. Currently I am modifying the Villager Football Stadium on /flat. It will also be on Horizon in the future. And I want to host this soon again. For those who don't know what villager football on flat is:

- What is Villager Football?
Villager Football is a 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2 sports game on /flat. You and your opponent(s) got a stick with knockback II. The meaning is simple: You have to hit the villager in the opponent's goal. If it's in, you have one point. Every match will start when both of the players who have to face each other are online and able to play. Every match will have a duration of 10 minutes. After 10 minutes the score will be noticed here on the forum. Everyone who visits the stadium have to turn PVP ON in case of griefing. Except the appointed referee. This is for the good overview of the game.

A lot of you already played the game or know what the game is. But I always like to improve if possible. So please if you know something that could help me with the stadium or with the game, please message me here, on skype/discord or in game. All help is appreciated. Stay in touch for upcoming events and if you want to try the game, please ask me to teleport you in game.

SentinelCraft News / Introducing a new format...
« on: April 11, 2017, 11:05:36 PM »
Hello people,

The Sentinelcraft Magazine will be stopped for a while as you may know already. However, the original staff of it isn't going to stop writing articles for you. But we're going to do it in a different way. Migas and Fox are now part of the staff as well and so will Dante. Know Your Staff (KYS) will be placed in this new section as well. All your news and other cool articles will be in this one place just for you.

So the new format:

- The articles will be published as forum posts here.
- There won't be a deadline, so keep in touch with the forum for articles to come.
- Please do not place your own articles here if you're not part of the staff of Sentinelcraft News.
- Do not put stuff here in general.
- Enjoy the same articles, whenever you want and digital!

We're starting from now on, so keep in touch.

Hello people,

The tenth release of the magazine already, but I came to the decision to quit making the magazine for a while. We as staff are getting more busy and busy. And so same goes for me. It is also a hard job for me to finish it every month, although it is really fun to do it for all of you. I didn't expect it would last this long to be honest.

We did this together and I want to thank everyone who participated to the magazine.
It?s not that we will quit forever, but it was fun and I sure want to revive it once I'll be more active at the server again or when we?re having more free time.

I also want to thank you as readers. But the fact is that we are running out of ideas, time and inspiration and people aren't reading it as much as they did before.

Enjoy reading this one and hopefully until the next release of the Sentinelcraft Magazine!
