Lost everything

So i logged on when towny was on lock mode or something, anyway when i joined after i lost everything(I died) i dont know how i died, it just said respawn, and all thats left is 1 stonebrick...

Question: Why did you stay logged in, have a big risk of losing stuff and not report it here if you knew the server was not good?

I was playing xbox, and didnt realise till last minute therefor i didnt realise i was dying
