Seeking approval for town idea.
« on: November 12, 2014, 01:15:15 AM »
This question is mainly for staff, but I appreciate, everyones input.

I like having my town set to open, So i'm not limiting growth when i'm offline, but at the same time I can't assist them with plots unless I am online (I tried having plots set for free, but that got abused), so I was thinking of an idea that keeps things interesting and a little more realistic (sometimes it feels a little too safe here (: ) an if it's approved, other towns can do the same. I want to add an area of town perhaps 10-20 plots in size that would be all perms on for residents so that they can build and mine w/e in town if they join while I'm offline, and can upgrade when I am online. Now some optional things that are what I am seeking approval on, is Enabling PvP and Sticking up Griefing allowed signs for the area, because the area is like the slums, and I don't want it to be perfectly safe... of course mobs spawns enabled too, to more replicate the wilderness.

you could have griefing is allowed signs IF its in town chunks any one found griefing out side your town wall could get in trouble tho just know staff will not deal with town griefing

Oh yeah that's what I meant, it would be within town borders on plots owned by the town, I would just purposely make it slummy for realism. Signs would be Clearly marked and Rules would state that the griefing and pvp is allowed ONLY within the determined area, and that Staff will not handle situations of grief... I would assume we can still go to staff on unrelated instances of grief, right?

also I would probably make it a rule that: pre-existing residents (with owned plots) cannot kill ppl in this zone, as full residents are expected to be upstanding citizens, and would face some sort of temporary punishment.. would I be able to, only temporarily place a hold on one of their plots by claiming it, than allowing them to claim it again when the fair amount of time has passed (maybe 15-30 mins). Of course all of this would only happen if I had visual proof of the unethical killing of newbies.  and only if you guys feel this is fair. I just wanna add some interesting elements to my town, make it a little more 'role-play-ish'

This sounds like a very interesting idea. Very curious how this will play out in-game.

exactly.. trust. that comes in time, I had a great asst. in polson, but I am trying to gain trustworthy active members again... even so there is no guarantee that there will be a mayor or asst. on at all time during the day. and again it's also just to add a fun more realistic element to towny.

That is certainly a different way of going about it.

Staff are not involved with town management/grief so you really dont need approval from us. But I see what your asking and I think its not a bad idea. Kind of a different evolution of towny. All I can say is try it out and see how it works.

Awesome, I kinda figured it would be my choice, but I didn't wanna do all of this on that assumption, and cause problems. Alright, Dragonsreach will be the guinea pig for this idea.
