Welcome to the eighth edition of "Know your staff", a series of interviews in order to know better our beloved staff! This time our guest is TheGr8K8 (
aka Kate), moderator of SentinelCraft!
A brief description by a friend of her:
Kate is definitely someone that is always there for you no matter what. She's very smart and funny, but she doesn't put up with anyone's crap. Kate is my best friend ever, she will forever be my mermaid. She completes me.Dani: Welcome Kate to KYS! The world want to know more about you and the whole staff, let's begin. First question. Why are you on Sentinel? Kate: Honestly, Whitney (Spock) and I were looking for a new server to play on. We kept searching on websites for good servers with good reputations and joining them to test them out. This was the only one where we felt like the people were awesome and the server mods were great.
Dani: Sounds cool! So, what is Sentinel for you? Kate: It's a huge group of awesome friends that live all over the world. I've gained some amazing friendships because of it!
Dani: Who do you want to meet from Sentinel irl?Kate: Cool, Pauizz, Tipsy, Rich, Fed, Migas, Daniely of course
Cool is going to happen soon I'm sure, we live on the same street.
Dani: Oh wow, how does it feel living near another mod?Kate: Like it's a truly small world, she's apparently seen my at my work but was too shy to say "hi".
Dani: Oh, do you work then?Kate: Yes, I work for a credit union and I work for The Disney Store. 2 jobs!
Dani: Disney! It has to be awesome to work there!Kate: It totally is awesome
I just got home from there. It can be hard sometimes because, well, retail can be hard no matter what! But it's great to make magical experiences for guests of all ages!
Dani: Do you consider yourself a Disney fan?Kate: I'm a huge Disney fan. Sometimes referred to as
Disnerd. Disney is my passion in live. It's what I am tattooed, constantly wearing clothing and jewelry of....it's all over my house. Disney 24/7
Dani: Awesome. Now, could you describe yourself with 3 words?Kate:Outgoing, Sassy, Enthusiastic.
Dani: Why do you consider yourself like this?Kate: I've always been very outgoing, I want to experience all that the world has to offer. I'm not super patient so I tend to just jump into things. I have a very sassy sense of humor and love to joke around and make people laugh. I'm super enthusiastic about the things I love, and there are many things I love! I'm really good at sales because of that. As long as I'm selling something I love.
Dani: Why did you decide to apply for mod?Kate: I kept finding myself monitoring all of the players without being asked to and reporting things to the admins. I wanted to become part of it all and help moderate the insanity.
Dani: What is the best and worst part of dealing with the "insanity"?Kate: The best is being able to help out, help players and help the admins/Fed maintain things when I'm the only one on. The worst would be not having the admin abilities and not being able to help players/making them wait. Hopefully someday I'll be admin so I can do everything.
Dani: #Kate4Admin. Next question. You said you are currently working, but do you study too?Kate: Yes, I'm in school on and off for web development and business management. I already have an associates of applied arts degree in web design and multimedia from The Art Institute of Seattle.
Dani: Really impressive. So tell me, how a Web designer ended playing minecraft?Kate: It's a long story but here's how it went, I heard about "Slenderman" and looked up YouTube videos of people playing that game. Then I started getting really into YouTubers that game and started watching tons of them. Some of them also played Minecraft and I started really liking watching that and wanted to try it out myself. Some of them played on a server I won't name, playing Hide and Seek so I started there. Through that I met Spock and tons of other people and it just exploded from there.
Dani: How many men's hearts did you break?Kate: In Minecraft? lol Not many. Most players aren't even close to my age.
Dani: And in real life?Kate: Oh too many to count, I'm a fierce redhead after all.
Dani: Any plans for the future?Kate: I used to have many but the past year has tossed things up in the air. I'm hoping to work for Disney's web design/development/computer team in Seattle.
Dani: You can do it! And our last question, any last message for our readers?Kate: Never give up, no matter how hard it gets! All you can control is this moment, right now.
