Outside the Blocks - Aatif
« on: November 21, 2020, 03:34:30 PM »
Welcome to the fourth edition of "Outside the Blocks"!
In this series, I will be interviewing different members of our community in order to get to know them a little better!

Today, our guest is Aatif - a member of our community since December 2018!
Aatif is currently in the town Code and actively annoying others in Senior Member chat ;)

For those of you that do not know Aatif just yet, here's a brief description by a friend of his:

"Aatif is such a nice and sweet person, very friendly and fun to be around.
He is an amicable and unassuming fellow. Respectful and cares about others.
He may be a little odd or extra at times but he's always learning
and really puts an effort to try."

Hi Aatif! Welcome to Outside the Blocks, first things first! Tell me a little more about where you're from and what it is like to grow up there!

Hey Brenda! Thank you, its an honour to be here. I am from India. It's quite adventurous to grow here.
You're literally given responsibilities right from your teen age, which in my opinion is quite good as it'll help in the later life.

Could you give an example of a responsibility that you were given right from the moment you were promoted to a teenager?

Sure. I am the oldest child in my family. The first responsibility given to me was to cook by myself at the age of 12/13.
The first thing I learned to cook was noodles. From there on, I kept learning new stuff to cook.
I am still not very good at it xD. Besides this, the responsibility given to me was to be an actual elder.
My siblings follow my example, so if I am a good person, they'll try to be as good as me or actually better.
So yeah I am supposed to be kind of an "inspiration" to my siblings.

That's interesting, I bet the majority of us wouldn't have been able to cook full family dishes at 13!
What is a favourite food of yours that you would suggest everyone to try?
Why do you enjoy this dish so much & can you share the recipe with us to try it at home?

I really like noodles, to be honest. That is the thing that I usually cook when I don't have anything to eat.
I like to add extra stuff to the noodles like cheese, chopped carrots and other herbs to make it much better.
Cheese actually tastes great with it. You can also try adding chilli to make it spicier which is what I like too!

Alrighty! Seems like my student house might be getting a taste test after this idea!
Are you currently studying something at the moment, do you have any (side) jobs that keep you busy outside of the blocks?

I am currently in 11th grade and planning to study Computer Science. I do data entry jobs to collect some money for myself and home needs.

What is an example of a profession you'd like to do after you completed your study?

Professional Developer at Apple :P

Sounds like you have big dreams, Aatif! How'd you come across our server and why did you stick around?

It was Christmas. I was pretty bored because we don't celebrate Christmas and my friends who did were away.
I opened Minecraft and started playing in singleplayer, that's the only thing I used to do.
I had never played multiplayer. Next, I searched servers on google and found sentinel.
This was my first server ever! And as soon as I joined this, I loved the community and the server overall.
I made so many great friends here. I learned new stuff here. It is amazing!
The community is what I love and that is the reason I'd never leave Sentinel

What are some of your favourite moments?

My first favourite moment would be the SM promotion day. It actually happened on my birthday.
I was like so fricking happy! It was the best birthday gift ever! Second would be the prom this year.
It was so fun and I was so happy that I moved from the "Most annoying" list to the "Most helpful" one xD that was a really fun day!
And the last I'd like to list is building with Arya, I never used to build.
I sucked at it (I still kinda do) but we did it together and it was much more fun than doing it alone

Speaking about Arya, there have been some confusing weddings and love triangles going on in the past
according to the community. Would you care to explain what is going on with your Minecraft love life at the moment?
Divorcing Arya, flirting with Joelle? What is all of this?

LMAO! That was not at all anything tbh. That was just random stuff we did because we were bored  :D. There is not at all any love xD

Are you sure that you're not hurting someone with this statement?
We're pretty sure that you've got at least one wife!

I mean we do love each other but not that kinda love and all I'm too young for this xD

Hmm alrighty then. If you could ban one person from the server, who would it be and why?

That would be Nead (aka Etspiritu) for ear raping me with pistons. He likes to annoy me with the pistons, they make noises which I don?t like.
I did turn off blocks sound later so it is not that bad anymore  ;D but he still deserves the ban for being the cutest!

What is next for you on the server? What are your future plans/ambitions?

Quite a lot of stuff. But first is to expand RainbowRocks and add some more stuff to sell there.
I am actually planning to make a nether themed town too.
And the last I'd like to say is to improve myself and maybe apply for mod again!

Interesting! What has changed in you from the past moderator applications that makes you want to re-apply?

I've learnt a lot from my applications. I try to be a bit more mature in general.
I have gained more knowledge about the plugins and all from our server.
And I've gained a lot more understanding, to be honest.

What will you be able to bring to the staff team that, according to you, is currently still missing?

To be very honest with you Brenda, there is nothing missing in this amazing staff team!
This is not a big issue but I've seen a lot of players from India recently, and people sometimes like swear and stuff in Hindi.
Hindi is the national language of India, so I'd be great at handling those people.

Alrighty! Others have seen you promoting Code regularly in the chat,
you mentioned that you're thinking of creating a nether themed town. How dare you leave Joel like that?
Who are you taking with you to build this town?

NO! I'd never leave Code! It is going to be a friends-only town with nether themed bases and stuff in the horizon  xD
Oh god I can't even think how bad it'd be to leave code! I've got a few people with me as of now; Stycore, Arya and Joelle.
We don't have an actual plan yet but we surely wanna do this

Aha! That concludes our interview, do you have any last things you'd like to say to the community?

I'd like to thank the community for loving me so much and my friends who keep supporting me!
As I'm about to complete to 1k hours on the server, I look forward to playing thousands more.
Everyone, be safe, wear masks and practice social distancing! Take care and thank you for this great opportunity Brenda!

Thank you for reading this interview, I hope you enjoyed even though it has been a while!
Don't forget to leave a comment to add onto some gossip. Who should be next on Outside the Blocks?
Hope to see you soon for another edition! Brenda (:

As someone who lives in America, hearing about the cultural difference in India is very interesting! Over here, we tend to learn how to cook around 16 usually. And that's if our parents trust us enough around the oven! LOL
