This would make creating shops much easier.

This is a good addon on to it as well:

But.. Signs can hold alot of items already and don't take that much space like chests ? I think the trading signs currently used are just fine honestly.

I'd honestly like the chest shops a little more, yeah the signs can hold the items just as easily but with the chests you could take your items from the chest without having to create another sign again. Plus its easier to sell items since you can just place them in there instead of calculating exactly how many you have/want to sell

Also, with this plugin, buying and selling can be done on the same sign

Sounds cool to me. Though I don't have an issue with the signs as is, some players make unappealing shops due to item#'s and such. What's this sign selling me? Oh, 16 253's for $2k....who knows? lol

So you are against free markets? If someone makes a crappy shop... just dont use it. Thats how that works. When I made mine I had clear names, prices, item frames with all the items in question, ect.

Chest shop as has been stated is far more limited to make up for its short comings.

haven't used chestshop since like 1.6.4 but heres what I remember

chest pros:
  • can be filled/emptied by hoppers
  • comparator systems can be used to make alarms for full/empty chests
  • buy/sell from same sign
  • if enabled in config, can bulk buy/sell stacks to a 1 qty shop
  • can buy/sell enchanted items relatively easily (potions too!)
chest cons:
  • can be a PITA to get it to play nice with LWC depending on version
  • needs it's own /itemno command to be working to get right IDs for enchanted items, potions
  • occupies minimum 2 blocks space to provide inventory of 1 chest worth of items
  • sign syntax vastly different from the signshop syntax we're all already used to may lead to even more confusion
  • (AFAIK) trades only money as currency, signshop will allow dirt for diamonds or even exp if desired
  • chestshop has to be added to the server, further complicating things. signshop is a very small part of essentials, hardly considered a plugin but a base requirement for most servers that other plugins like chestshop count on being present to work properly.

my opinion, it's not a required plugin. it's nice for things like making a potion shop that auto-restocks itself via redstone machinery or having an exchange set up to buy coal for $8 a stack and sell for $10 a stack that you never have to mess with. hell, I used to sell off a whole library of enchanted books with it. signshop and chestshop will play nice with eachother though without any conflict, it's only protection plugins I've seen have issue with chestshop. with all that said, though it does not meet 100% of my needs, signshop is my preferred shop. if we had only chestshop here I'd be fighting for signshop to be enabled beside it. not fighting for chestshop but would welcome it as a companion to signshop.

cant beat diamonds for dirt tho.

Interesting idea but if chests take more time and hassle than the signs, there's no need for it. Especially if you can create a chest shop already : ) I'm sure there's a way to make your shop without this added plugin.

Chestshops

i know that the server already has a good shop plugin . But i would like to suggest a even better plugin .-Chestshops-,this plugin is more efficient, easy to use, players can easily setup their own shops by placing a sign on a chest with the item. Heres a few reason why i suggested this

As to my knowledge the servers current shops plugin has some problems with 1.13 version , but this plugin is fully compatible with 1.13.

This plugin acts a bit more vanilla than the current plugin, this plugin is better for vanillla servers than the current one.

Admishops can be easily created using this plugin , the current plugin needs 2 signs for selling and buying , meanwhile this plugins enables staff to setup adminshop in a single sign rather than 2.

this plugin is very easy to use . most of the players are familiar with this i guess . Buyers can easily identify the sell price, and buy price of the product on sale.Players will find it much easier to setup their own shops with this plugin than the current one ,..

This is just a suggestion, Im not trying to say that the current system isnt good ,i just wanted to makeit better , as i said this is just a suggestion, hope you to take it in that way.

We already have two trade plugins. Either use trade signs or put stuff in auction.

Merged topics because this was suggested before.

I would also like the comment, I like trade signs better. They take up less space and overall look better.

"This goes against our goal to keep the server as close to vanilla minecraft as possible."-Migas
Signshops arrent for vanilla servers, Chestshops make the game  more vanilla and as from above word i believe that you are trying to make theserver close to vanilla as possible.Items stored in a sign or stored in achest which do you think is more vanilla?
Im not asking why signshops im asking why not chestshop? It is more easy to use , compatible with almost every item of 1.13

Why not? Because we already have two trading plugins. Another one would be a waste of memory and more confusion for the players. And it is not more easy to use, it requires more items to place down and it's harder to control the economy balance with it. Also it doesnt allow to trade XP and store money like a bank.

Just because we aim that the server should be as close to vanilla as possible, that doesnt mean we will change plugins for that, that quote was brought out of context. People are already used to trade signs, they are intuitive, and removing that plugin would be chaotic since there are already hundreds of trade signs in the server. Just imagine the number of items and money that would be lost.

We arent black or white, we don't want pure vanilla or a massive amount of plugins. We need to have a balance on the plugins and chestshops just doesnt fit our setup either.
