I think we should stick with the informal user regulated system we have based on Towny. People (like debu) can create market sections and people can purchase shops there. That way you don't have set time limits that could end up with you losing your items, and you have the choice of different market places, if you don't like the price... Go somewhere with better prices.
I have been waiting for someone to come up with a really good market place for a while but it doesn't seem to be coming to pass. Maybe I will have to dust off my old Towny gloves *cracks knuckles*
The problem about the Bazzar is that people don't know about it. I've seen at least 10 people asking if there was a playershop marketplace, they have been there playing on the server for say the last 2 weeks or so. People like Timekeeper earlier did use to promote the Bazzar but ever since he removed his plot their he doesn't care if people get to it or not.
I can't really build the Bazzar on my own. I have Noahz with me to handle stuff but the thing is that we rarely get online at the same time to discuss about new plots or stuff.
The taxes are crucial for the function of our town, but I think I'm lowering it down to $5 instead of $15. People who know about the Bazzar don't want to spend their 'PRECIOUS' $20 tping there, I can't help it... I've seen people saying: 'WTF! This Bazzar thinggy of urs cost me my $20...'
Actually with this plugin you can rent a space for as long as you want. Lets say the space is 100 dollars for 7 days, you just click the sign for how many 7 day segments you want to rent it for and thats how long you have. Say you want it for 2 weeks, you click it twice. You want it for a month you click it 4 times. And if you ever decide you want it for longer you just go back to it and click some more, so long as you have the cash to do so. The problem with entire towns being set up as shops is it causes a lot of lag having that much going on in one place. This will still give the market option of going elsewhere and buying goods. As each vendor would not be regulated on what they sell. So if one shop does not have the price you want, go down the way and find one that does. It would cause more competition from vendor to vendor but it would also end with having more of a set value on goods. I am working on a small mall in my town, but as it goes with it, only my assistants and myself can sell items. I am setting it up in a themed booth fashion. But even with its size it will not be a sufficient shopping center for all your needs. My assistants have specialties but when it comes down to having everything in a compact area to reduce lag, that I can not do with just me and my assistants. Would a mall with rented booths possibly put me and others out of business? Maybe, but we too could always rent a booth.
In some cases with such a plugin in use, we could see as many as 6 to 10 vendors selling on one single plot. And that is where the value of such a plugin comes in handy. You could create quite a massive mall with multiple floors within a 5x3 plot area with a large walkway and possible small kiosks along the walk way.
Building time would be extensive, but it would give a whole new experience to the players and allow them to have more control over the economy in the game.
This plugin could be used for other things as well. Such as renting out mining plots that could be reset after a set number of days. Creating entire factories out of the ability to set these plots up. Glass factories, stone factories, mining facilities. The possibilities are endless. And this could even go into other twists. Maybe a small town with apartments and houses for new players to rent while raising the money and material to build their own homes or towns. And as time goes on, you will find people coming to the server that just don't like to build so they would be perfect candidates for long term housing in these rental areas. So, yeah, this plugin expands far beyond just the use of shop booths and prison cells.
looks like even you don't know about the Bazzar? The Bazzar is a town-player shop project run by me. It sells players plots without making them join the town and they make their shops there at the plot. There are many people selling many different stuff. Some sell beacons, some sell wither heads, some sell minerals, etc. To get to the Bazzar u have to do ' /t spawn bazzar ' I need to get some more time out for the Bazzar though.
Renting a place for as long as you want? Not quite what I expected, I'm sure there will be config to change that value, also what if people go for a long time? their plot gets sold away and what next?
This plugin requires w/e and w/g. Those two plugins can only be used by OP's and people with the proper permissions. So no u cant just set up, a area by ur self, and put it up for sale. Its probably gonna be hard for server admins to keep going and making and marking plots for you.
How can people buy a rent a area if they don't have money? We got pretty nice people on the server (such as myself xD) to show people around and get them to settle down. No ones having a 'Temp' home and they gonna shift. Most people would like to just settle down at a place and make a house there. If people were lazy (not as in 'Rich' Lazy), they wouldn't be playing Minecraft. The basic idea of MC is to survive. U can't just lie down somewhere and say I'm playing MC.
The mining idea is horrid, I mean I found diamonds here so I keep this chunk. so when it regens the diamonds will be at the exact same place. (Chunks are rendered depending upon the seed of the world, it always creates a same area regardless how many times u reset it)
