Minecraft will run smoothly with gb ram, but consider that windows can use up to 3 gb of ram too, if you really want to allocate 4 gb of ram to mc it's prone to run out of memory and will srash your pc, also having 8gb of ram and paying more for a powerfull graphics card doesn't make much sence. Seeing as how minecraft is going to implement more and more stuff, it's likely to become heavier to run.
So futurewise it's recommended that he takes more then the 8gb in his original post. Like stated before 12gb will be good and 16 even better if you have the money to buy ram at the current prices. if not 8gb is sustainable until the prices lower enough to buy a second stick (if it fits in the motherboard).
and the i3 would possibly bottleneck a 1050ti
